Genesis 24
Abraham was old, advanced in age
And Abraham said unto his eldest servant .. Put, I pray thee, thy hand under my thigh: (Gen. 24:2 KJV)
I will make you swear by the LORD, .. that you shall not take a wife for my son from the daughters of the Canaanites, among whom I live
but you shall go to my country and to my relatives, and take a wife for my son Isaac
the servant said to him, "Suppose the woman will not be willing to follow me to this land; should I take your son back to the land from where you came?
Then Abraham said to him, "Beware lest you take my son back there!
The LORD.. saying, 'To your descendants I will give this land,' He will send His angel before you, and you will take a wife for my son from there
But if the woman is not willing to follow you, then you will be free from this my oath; only do not take my son back there
And the servant put his hand under the thigh of Abraham his master, and sware to him concerning that matter (Gen. 24:9 KJV)
the servant took ten camels ..he arose, and went to Mesopotamia, unto the city of Nahor (Gen. 24:10 KJV)
And he made the camels kneel down outside the city by the well of water at evening time
he said, "O LORD, the God of my master Abraham, please grant me success today
Behold, I am standing by the spring, and the daughters of the men of the city are coming out to draw water
Drink, and I will give thy camels drink also: let the same be she that thou hast appointed for thy servant Isaac (Gen. 24:14 KJV)
And it came to pass, before he had done speaking, that, behold, Rebekah came out (Gen. 24:15 KJV)
the girl was very beautiful, a virgin, and no man had had relations with her
And the servant ..said, Let me, I pray thee, drink a little water of thy pitcher (Gen. 24:17 KJV)
she said, Drink, my lord (Gen. 24:18 KJV)
I will draw water for thy camels also, until they have done drinking (Gen. 24:19 KJV)
and she ran again unto the well to draw water, and drew for all his camels (Gen. 24:20 KJV)
the man wondering at her .. whether the LORD had made his journey prosperous or not. (Gen. 24:21 KJV)
And it came to pass, as the camels had done drinking, that the man took a golden earring (Gen. 24:22 KJV)
Whose daughter art thou? (Gen. 24:23 KJV)
I am the daughter of Bethuel the son of Milcah (Gen. 24:24 KJV)
We have both straw and provender enough, and room to lodge in (Gen. 24:25 KJV)
Then the man bowed low and worshiped the LORD
Blessed be the LORD God of my master Abraham (Gen. 24:27 KJV)
Then the girl ran and told her mother's household about these things
Rebekah had a brother, and his name was Laban: and Laban ran out unto the man.. (Gen. 24:29 KJV)
he went to the man; and behold, he was standing by the camels at the spring
And he said, Come in, thou blessed of the LORD; wherefore standest thou without? (Gen. 24:31 KJV)
So the man entered the house. Then Laban unloaded the camels...
But when food was set before him to eat, he said, "I will not eat until I have told my business
And he said, I am Abraham's servant.
the LORD hath blessed my master greatly (Gen. 24:35 KJV)
Sarah my master's wife bore a son to my master in her old age
And my master made me swear, saying, 'You shall not take a wife for my son from the daughters of the Canaanites
but you shall go to my father's house, and to my relatives, and take a wife for my son.'
And I said to my master, 'Suppose the woman does not follow me
The LORD, before whom I have walked, will send His angel with you to make your journey successful
when you come to my relatives; and if they do not give her to you, you will be free from my oath
So I came today to the spring, and said, 'O LORD, the God of my master Abraham..make my journey on which I go successful
I say, "Please let me drink a little water from your jar"
and she will say to me, "You drink, and I will draw for your camels also
Rebekah came out with her jar on her shoulder..and I said to her, 'Please let me drink.
She said, Drink, and I will give thy camels drink also (Gen. 24:46 KJV)
--Whose daughter art thou? And she said, The daughter of Bethuel, Nahor's son (Gen. 24:47 KJV)
I blessed the LORD, the God of my master Abraham,
So now if you are going to deal kindly and truly with my master, tell me; and if not, let me know
Laban and Bethuel answered and said, "The matter comes from the LORD; so we cannot speak to you bad or good
Rebekah is before thee, take her, and go, and let her be thy master's son's wife, as the LORD hath spoken (Gen. 24:51 KJV)
when Abraham's servant heard their words, he worshipped the LORD (Gen. 24:52 KJV)
And the servant brought forth jewels of silver, and jewels of gold, and raiment, and gave them to Rebekah (Gen. 24:53 KJV)
And they did eat and drink, he and the men that were with him, and tarried all night (Gen. 24:54 KJV)
But her brother and her mother said, "Let the girl stay with us a few days
And he said to them, "Do not delay me, since the LORD has prospered my way
And they said, "We will call the girl and consult her wishes
They called Rebekah, and said unto her, Wilt thou go with this man? And she said, I will go (Gen. 24:58 KJV)
And they sent away Rebekah their sister, and her nurse, and Abraham's servant (Gen. 24:59 KJV)
And they blessed Rebekah, and said unto her, Thou art our sister, be thou the mother of thousands of millions (Gen. 24:60 KJV)
And Rebekah arose, and her damsels, and they rode upon the camels (Gen. 24:61 KJV)
Isaac came from the way of the well (Gen. 24:62 KJV)
and he lifted up his eyes, and saw, and, behold, the camels were coming. (Gen. 24:63 KJV)
And Rebekah lifted up her eyes, and when she saw Isaac (Gen. 24:64 KJV)
she had said unto the servant, What man is this that walketh in the field to meet us? (Gen. 24:65 KJV)
And the servant told Isaac all things that he had done. (Gen. 24:66 KJV)
And Isaac brought her into his mother Sarah's tent, and took Rebekah, and she became his wife (Gen. 24:67 KJV)
